Set up Loofah and transcribe your first meeting

You need an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later. The download is signed and notarized. Allow time and disk space for a speech model during setup, then make a short test recording before your next call.

  1. Install the app

Download the signed Apple Silicon build from the latest release. You can also build it from the source repository.

  2. Allow audio access

Allow Microphone so the app can hear you. Allow System audio so it can hear the other people on a call.

  3. Download a transcription model

Pick an on-device model during setup. The app can continue while the model downloads, but transcription will not work until the download is complete.

  4. Configure your spoken languages

Before recording, open Settings → App → Language & Region. Set your Main language and add any Additional spoken languages used in your meetings. The model and language selection determine whether transcription is supported and whether it can appear live. See Languages for the supported list.

  5. Set up summaries, if you want them

Connect a local server such as LM Studio or Ollama, or enter an API key for a supported provider. You can skip this and still record and transcribe meetings.

  6. Make a test recording

Open the Welcome to Loofah note, click Record, and say a few sentences. Click Stop listening, then check Memos, Summary, and Transcript. The Summary view only has content when an Intelligence model is configured and there is enough transcript to summarize.

Create a note, click Record, and leave the app running while the meeting is in progress. Loofah captures your microphone and system audio without joining the call.

If either side of the conversation is missing, start with audio troubleshooting.

Name your test note Launch planning test and record a few sentences, such as: “We agreed to run the pilot on Thursday. Maya will write the checklist. We will review the results on Friday.” This is sample input for your own test, not a promised transcript or summary.

After transcription finishes, check that the dates and owner are correct and add a correction to your note if needed. If you configured Intelligence, compare its summary with the transcript.

Next, connect your agent and ask it to find the pilot decision. This gives you a complete path from a conversation to reusable context without needing a real meeting for the first test.
