Is it free?

Yes. Loofah is free and will stay free. Recording, local transcription, notes, exports, and agent access are included. There is no subscription or premium tier to unlock.

If you choose a hosted AI provider for summaries, that provider may charge for its API usage. You can also use a local model through Ollama or LM Studio. See AI setup.

No. I just need this for myself. I want a place for my notes, meeting transcripts, and research, with files I own and can use however I like. That’s why I built Loofah, and why I keep working on it.

Sharing it means other people can use it too. It doesn’t need to become a business to be useful to me. You can read more about where it came from.

You can’t, really. You have to trust me.

This is a personal commitment from the person building it. I can’t prove what I’ll do years from now. What you can see today is the source code and the ordinary files in your vault. Your notes remain useful outside Loofah, so you don’t have to put the same trust in the app as you do in my promise.

I do have one idea I might play with someday. If Loofah becomes successful, the only way I currently imagine adding some revenue is optional hosted storage. It could also make things like setup and syncing easier for people who want that convenience.

It’s an idea, not an available service or a commitment to build one.

If I explore it, it will always be optional. The app will stay free, and you will still be able to keep everything local, choose your own storage, and use your files with other tools. Hosted storage will never reduce that flexibility or your local ownership. Choosing not to pay must leave you with the same freedom to use Loofah on your own terms.

For now, your vault lives on your Mac. If you want to use it across Macs, see Sync your notes.
