Otter’s allowances depend on the current plan and recording workflow. Consult its pricing page for the full limits rather than treating this table as the complete plan contract. [1]

You regularly transcribe on an Apple Silicon Mac, want to work offline, or have a backlog of recordings you prefer to process locally. Loofah has no service allowance to exhaust; processing time, model support, disk space, and your Mac’s resources still matter.

Notes and summaries remain Markdown files in your vault. You can export sessions, search them locally, and give your agent MCP access. Summaries need a separate Intelligence provider, and local summaries require running Ollama or LM Studio.

Otter may suit you better if you need its mobile apps, integrated AI workflows, or hosted processing for imports. Check its supported languages and current plan allowances against your actual meetings. [1][3]

An internet interruption can stop Otter’s live transcript while recording continues; its documentation describes completing transcription after reconnection and upload. [2] Loofah’s downloaded speech model processes locally, but live text is limited to supported English meetings. Other supported languages are transcribed after recording.

If you have a recording you are authorized to use, import the audio into Loofah and review the result. Loofah also accepts SRT and VTT transcripts. It does not connect to your Otter account or migrate its folders, comments, or permissions.
